A poetry film of 'Resistance', a poem written by the famous Dutch poet Remco Campert.
As soon as I saw this poem on a wall in Gent, Belgium I thought: I have to visualize this poem. I contacted Campert and he agreed to cooperate with this project. We went to this home, shot footage of him writing on his typewriter and recorded the poem. Later we traveled all over the country in search for images that support the powerful message of 'Resistance'. The search led me to Rhijnauwen near Utrecht, where during the Second World War hundreds of Belgian and Dutch resistance fighters were executed. Now, 60 years later, it is a peaceful place where children play. No matter what happens; nature takes over in the end.
